Today, writing this blog post, we have reached more than 1 month isolated in our homes. I am sure that many of us find ways to entertain our minds and spend time with pleasure. However, for those who are used to moving and doing a lot of sports, the situation can be quite complicated. The other day I even heard a friend telling me that an acquaintance made the stairs of his block 4 times a day, up and down, to get fit and discharge energy
I also had a time when I could not do as much sport as usual. It was when I worked as an environmental engineer without much free time. Previously, at university, I went to the sports pool and I was proud of myself for being able to do 2000 meters in 1 hour with just one pause. Thinking I went there 3 times a week ... plus Kung-Fu on weekends! I felt very sporty!
Well, just at that time as an engineer I discovered Qì-Gong. The first practice I learned was Ba-Duan-Jin, known as The 8 Pieces of Brocade. Having practiced Kung-Fu, he knew the importance of perseverance in the daily practice of these arts. The good thing was that I could fit it into my day with ease; I could practice it for 10 to 20 minutes every day and keep progressing. What fascinated me was that every time, even though the movements were the same, the feeling always changed and that is why the practice never bored me. After a whole year practicing daily, the moment came when I had free time again and was able to go to the Olympic pool again. Of course something inside me told me that it was impossible to swim 1 hour without stopping and finish 2000 meters. In the end I had not done strong sports for 1 year ... Well, when I got out of the water I did not believe in what I had just experienced. I was able to swim just as easily as if I had left the pool the day before yesterday! I did 2 breaks covering 1800 meters, incredible! The day after I was even more amazed because I did not feel the shadow of laces! My body was in perfect condition. It was then that I understood the power and efficiency of Ba-Duan-Jin. So I just prepared my interpretation for you in a video. You can do it in 10 minutes and you will see how each day your body will open and strengthen. When you start you don't need to pay as much attention when to inhale / exhale. The important thing is not to stop breathing. Once you are comfortable with the movements we can talk about breathing cycles. When they learn the movements well it is possible to repeat them more times and do a longer practice. Also read "how to practice at home" If you want to warm up the body even before practicing you can use this video. In a previous article I had briefly talked about how the art of Qì-Gong manages to keep the physical body in shape from a scientific perspective. In a future article, I will write about different interpretations of Ba-Duan-Jin with YouTube videos and how we can integrate them into our daily practice. I hope Ba-Duan-Jin helps you feel fit on these special days.
